Maury Island Farm® was developed by Pete and Jude Shepherd over 20 years ago when they were red currant
farmers, raising berries and their children on their island farm.
A gourmet chef in Seattle asked them to make red currant jelly to be used for glazes in his kitchen. Then another friend
asked them to make jam and jelly for some gift packs he was selling. Things really got moving when Frederick &
Nelson department store asked them to make all the private label jam, jelly, and marmalade sold in their 15 stores.
From the beginning, the Shepherds were guided by the idea the the FRUIT should come FIRST in preserves and toppings.
The taste of the berry in the field needed to find its way into the jar, and not be overwhelmed by sweeteners or anything artificial.
Today, Maury Island Farm® products are made to those original standards and recipes: More fruit than sugar. Small
batches. No artificial flavors or colorings. An all natural product. And always, most importantly -- A DELICIOUS PRODUCT!
Pete and Jude recently passed on the retail heritage of their business to friend and neighbor of 35 years, Vy Biel. Vy's Country Store and Gardens now operates the goodjam.com web site and the Gift & Gourmet shop by mail.
Through all these years, one thing has always remained the same -- GOOD JAM. Read what some of our customers have said...
